Felix and Gunni have to search for Völundur the smith, as he is the one who makes the Christmas presents. The search is like an adventure, as the friends enter one labyrinth after another and meet all sorts of villains. But they carry on undaunted, overcoming fear and other obstacles.
The toymaker Völundur appears from Gunni and Felix's wardrobe and entrusts the friends with an important bag and an important mission.
The search continues when Felix and Gunnar appear in a mysterious room full of mail.
After escaping the mail room the boys find themselves in another mysterious room where a saleswoman by the name of Salvör tries to sell them toys.
Gunni and Felix reach two doors and must choose between going "forward" or "back home without Völundur."
Gunni and Felix are in a storage room and meet the rude house-elf Bóthildur, who seems unwilling to help them find the way forward.
Gunni and Felix are in a snow-white room and see no walls and no obvious way out. They wonder if the room is endless.
