Dennis Quaid takes us inside the most elite aviation program in America. Known as WTI, the Marine’s version of Top Gun invites the best of the best combat pilots from every squadron in the country to prove their mettle. All are out to perfect their specialty, operating an unrivaled air fleet including F-18 Hornets, Huey, and Cobra Combat helicopters. The pilots who distinguish themselves earn a coveted invitation to return as an instructor…while those who slip up might not graduate at all.
At Yuma, AZ, WTI's rigorous seven-week training program is in full swing, and top pilots from each Marine squadron are taking to the air. These pilots have always tried to establish themselves as the elite of the elite.
As WTI heats up, the Cobras battle a Russian combat helicopter straight out of the movies. Meanwhile, the Huey students must insert Navy Seals at an embassy while contending with an angry mob.
WTI is a gauntlet that can break even the best pilots in America. As the students move into the final weeks of the program, the exercises become larger in scale and the stakes even more intense.
7 weeks of grueling combat training culminate with one final operation, known as Finex. It's the last opportunity for student pilots to plant a flag as the best of the best before WTI graduation.
