The Secret Garden is British television adaptation of the novel of the same name. Adapted, produced and directed by Dorothea Brooking, it was first broadcast on BBC 1 in seven, 30 minutes episodes in 1975.


Privileged child Mary Lennox is orphaned and sent to live at her uncle's mysterious and bleak house on the Yorkshire moors.

Mary befriends a robin who leads her to where the key to the forbidden garden is buried. Later, Miss Mary is intrigued by the crying coming from the corridor.

Mary finds the door to the secret garden hidden behind some ivy, but she needs some help from Dickon to get the neglected garden in order.

The mystery of the crying is solved when Mary discovers she has a bedridden cousin called Colin. Mary also meets her uncle for the first time.

The children are fighting - Wonderful.

A bit of fresh air - finally.

With a little touch of magic, Colin is reunited with his father for the first time since becoming healthy.
