It’s Stockport 1990 and Martin Parker, a man with the ambition of Alan Sugar and the looks of Robert Kilroy Silk is slowly waking up to the fact that things are changing. With a chain of electrical stores, a wife, kids and a flash car, he has the perfect life. But in reality he’s swimming in a sea of debt and lies, and it falls to the two women in his life, Kath and Diane to plot his downfall.
Kath is planning her anniversary celebrations, while Diane is worried she’s not got enough cheese for the soiree she’s organising for the ‘French exchange people’. Meanwhile, Martin is under financial pressure and needs to make some big decisions - decisions that will end up impacting him and everyone close to him.
Diane is worried that she didn’t impress the school governors, Kath is revealing more than she should, and Martin is desperately trying to get his hands on a chunk of cash.
Moneylenders move in on Martin’s family, leaving him with no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, Diane and Kath pursue Martin in the hope that they can work out what he’s up to.
Kath visits Martin in his office and gets way more than she bargained for, and Diane’s trip to the bank leaves her red-faced and running for the door.
Diane puts her trust in Kath and sends her on a covert mission while she reluctantly goes to dinner at Sandy Cooper’s house with Martin. But will Kath be discovered?
It’s the big day for Kath and Diane as they attempt to finally exact their revenge on Martin. But whilst Diane has never felt more alive, is Kath having second thoughts?
Parker's are up for an award! Diane is a bag of nerves, so Kath tags along for support. Martin swallows his pride and get a manual job. Nobody’s night turns out as planned.
It's the morning after the night before, and Kath wakes up regretting her actions, Martin has an unexpected job opportunity from Mic, and Diane takes the bull by the horns and arranges a date. Kath vows to put things right and does everything she can to get the attention of Sandy Cooper.
Kath wakes up in Sandy's hotel room and tries to convince him to give Martin a job. Martin and Diane both rush to Kath's aid but things don't go to plan and they know they're all in deep trouble.
Despite Kath, Diane and Martin needing to keep their heads down, Kath has a run-in with the police and end up bumping into an old friend.
Diane is stressing about Alison's 18th, Martin lets Mic down gently, and Kath is left questioning her life choices when Ash turns up.
Diane, Martin and Kath go to extreme lengths to get themselves out of trouble, hoping that crime will pay. The strain on relationships is starting to show and Kath is tested further when some shock news makes her revaluate her life.
