The town is shocked with a brutal double murder. The "Courier" hands the case to an experienced journalist - Witold Wanycz. At the same time, he learns about the mysterious suicide of two teenagers. Together with Piotr, a young journalist, they start their own investigation.
A town in Poland in the 1980s. Two journalists have doubts about the way the local police solve the murder of a prostitute and a communist activist.
At the Gronty housing estate, the militia finds bodies of a young prostitute and a local communist activist. Journalist Witold Wanycz doesn't believe in the official version of events. He seeks the truth with the help of twentysomething years old Piotr.
Piotr starts his own investigation. He believes the murder is "something more" than the militia and prosecutor's office try to make the public believe. His journey through the dark part of the town begins.
The trace leads Piotr to the local butcher. Maybe he's behind the murder? At the same time, Witold Wanycz becomes more interested in the suicide of two teenagers. He's got his personal reasons for it.
Piotr points to the butcher as the murderer. He feels that the town is veiled with a mystery from the past. The journalist no longer knows what's true or false. Wanycz discovers the tragic truth about the children's death.
Piotr tracks the alleged killer. Wanycz learns the truth about the teenagers’ death. Both tragedies are connected. Everything is related to the past.
During the flood of the century, another body surfaces in the forest, along with corruption, scams from the 1990s and long-hidden secrets from World War II.
Police Inspector Anna Jass investigates when the body of a teenager is found in the forest. Zarzycki returns to become Kurier’s editor-in-chief.
Jass begins to suspect the embankment didn’t break by itself, and Zarzycki wants to write an article about what happened in the forest after the war.
Jass and her partner arrest a man who might know more about the teen’s death. Meanwhile, Wanycz tries to find the journalist who went missing.
The police decide to close the case of the dead teen, but Jass isn’t satisfied with the result. Her investigation leads to a retired militia officer.
Jass discovers a secret about the victim's parents that shines new light on the investigation. Zarzycki finds a lead in the case of Kielak’s missing son.
When Jass and Mika pressure a suspect to reveal who’s behind the breaking of the embankment, the information brings them closer to the teen’s killer.
As the year 2000 draws near, officials in a small Polish town get rocked by a murder, a skeleton in Gronty forest and a string of horrifying abductions.
A language barrier stalls Mika's investigation, and a local figurehead is killed at the Centrum Hotel. A new business tycoon arrives in town.
Mika asks for Jass' help while she recovers. After Wanda leaves on a class trip, Zarzycki and Joanna's weekend alone is interrupted.
Jarek and Jass pay Wanda's friend a visit while Zarzycki takes matters into his own hands. Witek and Jassijej agree to help each other.
Zarzycki pursues another lead while Jass and Mika trail a suspect. Witek recalls a story he wrote in 1964.
Jass recalls her last conversation with Teresa and remembers a childhood friend. After taking Hanys up on his offer, Zarzycki goes all in to find Wanda.
Kinga wraps up Jarek's unfinished business as Jass makes a pivotal connection between the case and her own past. Witek closes a chapter.
