When sudden tragedy forces a deputy to step into the role of governor, she faces grueling political and personal tests in order to lead her state.
The Governor is hospitalized after an accident and is in a coma. Angela Ochello, his Deputy is given a harsh reality check during the next executive council meeting. The Chief of Staff makes it clear that she's out of the loop in important government decisions. Angela is made an offer that she doesn't want to refuse.
Angela seeks advice from her husband and her father about the resignation offer. Her stint as a female acting governor is seen as a ray of hope for women's groups. Is that enough to prevent her from signing the resignation letter?
Angela gets set to announce her resignation. The chief of staff reveals that her decision would enable the Commissioner for Finance to carry out his selfish plans. She proceeds to make an announcement that dramatically turns the tables.
After being sworn in as Governor, Angela and her family move into government houses. While her family adjusts to Government House protocol, Angela rolls up her sleeves and takes on her new position with gusto. She proves to the executive council members that she is capable of getting the job done.
Angela's refusal to step down has caused rumblings in the party. She is summoned by party leaders who draw up a list of candidates for her cabinet. Angela is forced to make some compromises to maintain peace in the party and hold on to dear allies. In a clever move, she gains the upper hand.
Teachers have gone on strike and Angela has to quell her first crisis as Governor. She discovers the distorted order of priorities in government when the Commissioner for Finance tells her there is not enough funds to increase teachers' salaries, yet asks for approval for money for members of the party.
Family life is strained when Iffy's 'twerking' makes headlines. A besieged Angela has to juggle an escalating teachers' strike, tribal tensions that have left many dead, and the impending visit of the National Chairman.
A scandal threatens to Ahmed's credibility and embarrasses Angela, while a flirtatious Connie makes David an offer he can't refuse. Friday is outmaneuvered by Angela, and instead of a payoff, she gets a payback.
Angela discovers that Paul's promising project is nothing more than a sophisticated scam; Toju has a party and Friday and stokes up trouble from the party when she refuses their demand for a percentage of a federal government loan, Meanwhile, Paul plots the biggest scam of his life.
Still reeling from the shock news of impeachment plans against her, Angela's chances appear slim as The Big Three humiliate and outmaneuver her father. Paul is robbed, and Toju's friendships are slowly crumbling around him.
With impeachment and a possible prison term on the horizon, Angela decides to fight back making the press one of her allies. But with huge sums of cash at stake, she might struggle to secure enough votes. Meanwhile, Friday Bello loses money to armed robbers.
Angela gives teachers their pay-rise using Friday's money, and David takes a mysterious trip as they prepare to vacate Government House. Angela discovers Iffy's deceit and Henry takes extreme measures in dealing with Paul's blackmail attempt.
As the Ochello family comes to terms with the end of her tenure. A broken Paul leaves town, perhaps for the last time. Friday positions himself to take office, while a despondent Angela takes stock. But there's still one move left to play.
