Wang So is the Prince of Goryeo who has a cursed fate. He had to get married with the Last Princess of Balhae, Shin Yool. She was born with the fate of becoming the light for another country. But because of this fate, she has to face death. Through their marriage life, Wang So and Shin Yool begin to grow closer and love each other.
Goryeo Prince Wang So is summoned back to the palace by his father the king, after having been exiled since childhood. While on a quest to find the men responsible for his father's assassination attempt, he meets Shin Yool, a merchant who is trying to escape marriage with a powerful general.
After having married Shin Yool to save her from marrying the General, Wang So leaves to pursue his father's would-be assassins. The king decrees the marriage of Wang So with Princess Yeo-Won as he asks Wang So to find the nobles who had fatally poisoned him. Meanwhile, Shin Yool decides to leave Gaebong for Goryeo.
