Rings On Their Fingers is a British television sitcom, written by Richard Waring. It ran from October 1978 to November 1980.
It's their first Christmas together and so to celebrate they decide to invite both sets of parents over for Boxing Day lunch - at least that was the plan!
Oliver and Sandy get into a big argument over marriage, he hates the idea and calls it outdated; she wants a ring on her finger - after all, it's been 6 years.
After promising to marry Sandy, Oliver is now being forced to sleep on the camp bed, and have no 'nookie'. They agree to marry in a week, so Oliver doesn't get splinters, so there's lots to do - and sort out a honeymoon.
It's the night before their wedding, and Sandy stays at home with her mother. Oliver meanwhile, has a stag do with the lads. After a drunken night he realizes he's lost his case for the wedding, and has to return home.
Sandy and Oliver have a few days in the Honeymoon suite in their regular Norfolk Hotel, though Oliver is a bit shocked by the price! They also beat another honeymooning couple to the suite, which Oliver starts worrying about.
Sandy and Oliver return home after their honeymoon. Oliver tries to pretend things haven't changed, but change they have. The wedding presents also make the flat look shabby! Oliver then gets a shock when they go round Edgar's.
Sandy and Oliver celebrate their 'two week, 2 day' anniversary by organizing a party. Only Tom and Joan are having a party the same night, and everyone's been invited to that! Why haven't Sandy and Oliver though?
Sandy is looking forward to celebrating her first wedding anniversary but Oliver prefers to remember the chase and especially the magic when he caught her at the final hurdle.
At a farewell office party, Oliver finds that a bid for promotion, a bottle of sherry and a Chinese restaurant all link to make an unfortunate chain of events
Oliver has never seen himself as the jealous type but when he sees Sandy with two different men in the space of a couple of hours he can't help wondering if there is trouble ahead.
It has took some convincing but finally Sandy has persuaded Oliver that they need to find more suitable accommodation. As usual, they are totally at odds about what constitutes the perfect marital home.
With the house move imminent, Sandy and Oliver get down to throwing out unwanted rubbish but, when it comes to rediscovering cherished possessions, Sandy is surprised that she is not the only one wanting to hold on to things.
The move is underway but while they wait to take possession of their new house, Sandy & Oliver are forced to spend a week at her mother's.
Sandy is finding it hard to settle in their new flat and a visit to their old home hardly helps the situation. Oliver realises that he is going to have to take desperate measures to make her happy but doesn't realise just how far he will have to go...
It's Sandy's birthday and once again Oliver has left the present buying until the last minute .. but what can he buy who has everything, including him!
The influence of new neighbours is felt very strongly in the Pryde household prompting fresh thoughts about holidays and even getting Sandy to think about one of her old flames. But, as usual, things are never what they seem.
While on one of their many economy drives, Sandy and Oliver find themselves in direct confrontation with the Residents' Association Committee. Oliver is determined to win and hits upon the idea to infiltrate their ranks.
There's trouble ahead for Oliver when he becomes entangled in an unfortunate set of coincidences that involve a redhead, a brunette, three blondes and a ballpoint .. but Sandy will understand that it is all innocent, won't she?!
It's time for their holiday but Sandy is feeling unwell and Oliver is making light of it in a chauvinistic way. However, events are about to take a turn that neither could have foreseen.
After returning home from their holiday, Oliver is surprised that the news of Sandy's pregnancy has affected friends and relatives in very different ways.
