Two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren't actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?
Walker and Pilgrim investigate the death of Olympia, a renowned superhero who is found dead in a sleazy apartment with no clothing and no sign of injury. Information emerges about Olympia's controversial sex life, which may have played a role in his death.
After Calista tries to find her powers in a more drastic way, she meets RetroGirl whom Christian knows more about than he's letting on. Meanwhile his partner makes her first official Powers arrest. After a while Christian becomes more suspicious about Johnny Royalle's death, and visits Wolf to seek his help.
As a lethal powers-enhancing drug is unleashed on the public, Detectives Walker and Pilgrim seek out the criminal mastermind behind it with the help of iconic Power, Retro Girl. As clues come to light, Walker considers the possibility that Wolfe, his dangerous former mentor turned nemesis, might have the answers he seeks.
Johnny realizes that's his new drug is dangerous, but is it too late to stop Wolf before all hell breaks loose?
As Retro Girl, Zora and the heroes of the world rush to stop the escape of Wolfe from The Shaft, Walker realizes he must face him alone, the inevitable clash between mentor and disciple that will unravel the deep-seated history between them.
In the wake of the battle to stop Wolfe, the Powers division gathers to mourn the loss of their fellow officers, while Walker seeks answers about his own future and the possibility of becoming Diamond once again. After seeing the uncertain and dangerous side effects of Sway first-hand Johnny Royalle begins unsavory experiments on known subjects of the drug.
After Wolfe pleads to end his life, Walker and Pilgrim must act quickly to stop Johnny Royalle from meeting with Wolfe in The Shaft. Meanwhile Zora struggles with her newfound fame, while Calista becomes more desperate to discover if she truly is a Power.
In order to persuade him to join his new cause to annihilate Wolfe, Royalle reveals to Walker the true nature of Sway and the inevitable devastation it will cause if Wolfe ever escapes. Meanwhile, as the message of Chaotic Chick spreads rapidly with fatal results, it finds its biggest platform yet in a publicity stunt orchestrated for Retro Girl's charitable foundation.
Walker decides how far he is willing to go to regain his powers, as Johnny Royalle sets the plan in motion to kill Wolfe. Meanwhile, the Powers division tries to catch Royalle in the act and discover where Walker's true allegiance lies.
Wolfe has escaped prison, it is now up to Christian and Co to stop his reign of terror from sucking the life of all the power teens that took Sway.
The world is turned upside down by the seemingly impossible and horrifying murder of retro girl. Pressure is on the powers division to bring the perpetrator to Justice, but when Walker is pulled off the case for being too close to the victim, and may be a suspect himself, he must go off-the-books to avenge the woman he loved.
On the day of Retro Girl's funeral, Detectives Walker and Pilgrim prepare to combat violence between rival gangs The Quantums and The Hacks. Hoping to fill her place, Calista makes her public debut as New Retro Girl. Still reeling from Retro Girl's death, and with her murder officially closed, Walker doggedly pursues a suspect he believes to be the real murderer.
Commander Cross unofficially reopens the Retro girl case, ordering Pilgrim and Walker to lead a covert investigation that may put them in a life-threatening situation. Meanwhile, Los Angeles goes in lockdown mode as gang warfare reaches a fever pitch, pulling the revered Power, SuperShock out of retirement.
New evidence suggests the main suspect and Retro Girl's murder may be a rare power gone rogue. With contempt between the Powers Division and the FBI escalating to a breaking point, Walker attempts to gain Agent Lange's trust.
In the aftermath of a catastrophic political scandal, Walker and Pilgrim investigate a high-priority suspect and uncover shocking government connections. Meanwhile Triphammer is determined to create a new Powers team, recruiting Zora and a new protégé, Sgt. Tiberio Martinez.
As Calista is about to be crowned the newest shining star of the Powers universe by Conrad Moody III, CEO of the most powerful Powers merchandising company on the planet, a valuable member of the community is murdered. With Walker and Pilgrim suspended, they are powerless to stop the city from unraveling around them.
The origins of SuperShock’s complicated and mysterious relationship with Retro Girl are revealed, as Calista, Sgt. Martinez and Zora team up to fill the Powers void left in her absence. The disgraced Senator Brown’s body is discovered, catapulting newly reinstated detectives, Walker and Pilgrim into the investigation.
Walker learns that something isn’t quite right with SuperShock, while Pilgrim and Kutter investigate an elusive “Ghost.” Calista’s estranged father unexpectedly comes to town.
Powers start dropping from the sky and Walker suspects an old friend is behind it. Pilgrim pursues Ghost believing he is responsible. Calista confronts SuperShock but the encounter causes her to reconsider being a power.
Powers Division and New Unity plan to capture SuperShock by using The Ghost as bait, but all does not go according to plan, and each would-be-hero must rise to the occasion or suffer the terrible consequences.
