Mare is an elementary school student. She lives with her family in the city, but, right before her father goes bankrupt, they run away and settle down at a fishing village in Noto. The family rents a couple's home who run a salt pond. Mare's father starts a new business, but it also fails. Her mother supports the family by working at the salt pond. 8 years later, Mare, about to graduate from high school, decides to work for the Wajima local government. She wants to have a steady job, unlike her father. Her job is to support people who move to Noto.
Takashi returns to Noto hoping to find the inspiration to start writing songs again. While his acting career has taken off, his true love, singing, hasn't. Coming along for the ride from Yokohama is Minami, who has been having a long string of bad luck she's hoping to break by finding a marriage partner in Noto. Perhaps the two of them can find a solution to both their problems together...
Yoichiro is finally ready to make the break from Ichiko. That won't be easy, but he hopes it will happen with the date he's set up with a young woman who's interested in him. However, that woman turns out to have much more in common with Ichiko than would be normal and that sets off Ichiko's warning signals. Still, this new woman just might be what's best to get both Yoichiro and Ichiko to move on...
