Kizzy is a six-part 1976 BBC television miniseries based on Rumer Godden's novel The Diddakoi. It starred Vanessa Furst as orphan traveller (or Romani girl) called Kizzy, who faces persecution, grief and loss in a hostile, close-knit village community.

Orphan traveller (or Romani girl) Kizzy faces persecution, grief and loss in a hostile, close-knit village community.

A group of travellers arrive in a small village, where they're met with hostility. When it's time to leave, one very elderly traveller opts to stay, together with her young granddaughter Kizzy.

Having been made to attend school, Kizzy struggles to adapt, and is being bullied constantly.

The funeral service for Kizzy's grandmother raises one important question — where Kizzy belongs going forward.

Kizzy's case goes to court, and Mrs Cuthbert does her best to stir things — but there's a possible solution offered.

Kizzy may have a little stability at home, but the bullying continues. As always, her tornentors are cowards at heart.

Bonfire night arrives, and it seems that Kizzy has finally turned a corner with the local girls — but an accident threatens everything.
