The series consists of 26 episodes divided into two parts as 13 episodes - the first covering the period between 1923 and September 9, 1944, and the second one - after it. The main characters are Nikola Dejanov, played by Stefan Danailov and Dimitar Bombov, nicknamed "Mitko Bombata" (Mitko the Bomb), played by Grigor Vachkov. They are childhood friends, both communists, spies, and partisans.

Set in the turbulent years surrounding World War II, Season 1 follows Major Nikola Deyanov—codename Sergei—as he leads the fight against fascism in Bulgaria. Haunted by the childhood memory of his father’s murder, Deyanov trains in Moscow before returning home as a Soviet intelligence operative determined to pursue the “enemies of the people.” Opposing him is Bogdan Velinsky, a sharp and calculating officer inspired by the real-life police chief Nikolai Geshev. Their ideological conflict drives the series, portraying two men bound by duty yet divided by belief. With strong performances, high production value, and a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic, the first season explores themes of loyalty, conviction, and the human cost of political struggle.

In the turbulent aftermath of a failed uprising, a young boy watches his father loaded onto a barge destined for doom—and a daring escape by a seasoned revolutionary changes everything. Loyalties are tested, friendships torn apart, and a hidden fight for freedom begins.

A covert assignment disguised as a summer guitar performance pits two former friends on opposite sides of a brewing conflict — one fighting for freedom, the other enforcing the state’s grip.

In the heat of the Spanish Civil War, a simple musical clock from Deyanov’s past resurfaces and entangles old wounds with a life-and-death intelligence war. Loyalties are blurred, enemies close in, and a vital archive becomes the pivot of a dangerous mission.

A critical message is set for delivery, protected by the visual code of "The Three Exclamation Points," but the simple signal hides a deadly trap. Under the intense watch of the state police, Deyanov must quickly identify a flaw in the plan and improvise a daring exchange.

A high-stakes rescuing operation takes place on a cross-country train, where Major Deyanov must secure the lives of Russian diplomats.

Season 2 unfolds over 13 episodes and takes the story to a broader stage. Velinsky, now head of an international spy network working to destabilize Bulgaria’s new order, remains Deyanov’s elusive adversary. Under the command of Bulgarian counterintelligence, Major Deyanov and Captain Bombov race to uncover and stop the spies and saboteurs sent by Velinsky and his foreign allies.
