The misadventures of fish porter Reg Furnell (Reg Varney) at the world-famous Billingsgate Fish Market, London.
Irene wants a central heating system and Reg tries to fund it by putting their savings on a horse.
Reg and Len get Old Wol to shut them in the market's cold room to see who can last the longest. The only trouble is, when they want to call it quits, Old Wol has gone off to the cafe and forgotten all about them.
Irene decides to go on a diet and insists that Reg joins her.
Reg refuses to pay his rates and ends up in court.
Reg's prized car needs expensive repairs so he and his mates come up with a plan to raffle it, but unfortunately only two tickets are sold. Now, Reg must come up with a way to get it back from Big Alf.
Irene thinks Reg is interested in other women. Meanwhile, Reg fails to ingratiate himself with the 'Gate's new guv'nor, Mr. Preston.
Irene's mother sends her daughter and Reg a high-end camera. When Reg tries to sell it to a pawnbroker, he and Irene end up in the local police station.
Reg is not happy when Irene's brother and his wife move into his house. Can Reg come up with a way to get rid of his unwanted house guests?
Reg finds himself in the doghouse when he goes out with the lads instead of taking Irene to the pictures.
Reg tricks Mr. Preston into coming round for dinner by telling him that a businessman who can double his money will be there. Reg reluctantly calls on his brother-in-law Clive to play the role.
Reg promises to take Irene to Ladies Night at her brother's Masonic Lodge if she passes her driving test.
Reg faces a moral dilemma when he finds a pearl worth one thousand pounds in an oyster.
