"The Door to Darkness" is an anthology miniseries of four hour-long thrillers. The series' curator and producer is Dario Argento, the undisputed master of suspense cinema, who directs one of the four films under the pseudonym Sirio Bernadotte.
Following the success of his first three films, Dario Argento curated and produced a series of four medium-length films, each approximately an hour long, for RAI. In addition to presenting each episode, the director himself directed one of them, The Streetcar, also taking over from Roberto Pariante as director of Eyewitness. The other two films were directed by Luigi Cozzi, a collaborator of Argento's, and Mario Foglietti.
Luca and Stefania and their newborn baby move into a house on the coast of Lazio, unaware that their neighbor has just killed his wife. Tense, claustrophobic, dreamlike episode, emblem of Dario Argento's direction.
A young commissioner investigates the murder of a girl, which took place the previous night in a tram carriage. In order to solve the case, the commissioner is willing to do anything, even to jeopardize the life of his girlfriend.
A patient in a psychiatric hospital appears to be the perpetrator of a homicide. The police try to track him down, while a girl who is trying to steal a doll comes across an ambiguous individual.
The constant sensation of imminent danger and the "black" climate typical of Dario Argento's production: in the last episode, a woman tells of having witnessed a murder, but, having no evidence to provide, she is not believed.
