Doll & Em is a British comedy series starring real-life friends Emily Mortimer (Em) and Dolly Wells (Doll), filmed in the style of a reality TV show. After a breakup, Doll heads to Hollywood to be with her childhood best friend Em, who's now a successful actress.
Doll has a breakup with her boyfriend, and in a crisis goes to Hollywood to be with her childhood friend Em. To help out, Em hires Doll as her assistant, but Doll struggles working out what a Hollywood star's assistant actually does.
At a party for the cast of Em's film, Doll gets a bitter taste of life as an assistant. And the pair are tested further during an encounter with Em's producer.
Em is unable to summon tears during an emotional scene; Doll is cast as an extra; Doll befriends John Cusack.
