Challenge of the GoBots is an American animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera, based on the Gobots toy-line released from Tonka. The show originally debuted in animated form as a five-part miniseries, which aired in syndication from October 29 - November 2, 1984. A regular series followed the next year, premiering on September 16, 1985 as part of the new weekday/weekend morning programming block called The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera. The series was later rerun on the USA Cartoon Express.
A scientist named Dr. Fury and his family are in his house with Coptor when evil robots, led by Hun-Dred, blast their way into the house. Coptor fires on the evil robots but is defeated, and the scientist is abducted for his research on putting human brains into robots. Hun-Dred wants to use Dr. Fury to do this for the evil Nazgar, who created trouble for the scientist's planet nearly two-thousand years ago. Ten years later, a repaired Coptor and Mark Fury (Dr. Fury’s son) along with new robots created by Mark go on a mission to find his father.
The GoBots, television's amazing transformable super heroes, star in their first full length feature film, "GoBots: War of the Rock Lords." It's wall-to-wall action and high tech fun as the heroic Guradian GoBots join the Rock Lords' battle for control of the ultimate super weapon. And they'd better hurry, because the Guardian GoBots' all-time worst enemies, the Renegades, are out to use the super weapon for their own evil purposes.
Facing defeat on GoBotron, renegade GoBots Cy-Kill and his cronies Crasher and Cop-Tur, steal an experimental GoBot weapon called Astro-Beam. They plan to conquer Earth and use it as a staging ground in their war for GoBotron.
The Guardians contend with the monster Zod when the Renegades attack the Arctic island of Stolbovoy to obtain the energy source sorium.
Cy-Kill attacks the US military and uses the sorium to power a device that seizes control of the minds of every human on Earth.
With the world against them and Leader-1 captured by the Renegades, Turbo and Scooter go on the run.
The reunited Guardians must break Cy-Kill's hold over Earth in order to save GoBotron from a mass-produced fleet of Zods.
The Chronos Time Transporter creates a time portal, allowing users to pass through and visit other time periods. Before the Guardians get a chance to test it, the Renegades show up.
The Renegades are at it again. This time sending a probe to earth , in a try at gaining access to a protected base. Scooter decides to check it out on his own. What will he discover, and will the Guardians be in time to stop the Renegades.
The Renegades form an alliance with a cyborg super-villain named Trident, who helps them kidnap leaders and dignitaries from all around the world.
Cy-Kill dupes the alien adventurer Alva-Nar into attacking GoBotron with his mighty armada.
Cy-Kill hatches a devious plan to trap the Guardians with phony SOS of a mining ship in distress.
A remote outpost is attacked by Renegades, who kidnap Mobius and steal his Inverter Ray. With the help of Braxis, they turn the weapon against Gobotron, as Mobius's son Danny teams up with the Guardians in a rescue attempt.
