The gripping story of Eileen Franklin who, while playing with her young daughter, suddenly had a memory of witnessing the rape and murder of her childhood best friend, 8-year-old Susan Nason, which led to a re-opening of a case that had gone unsolved for nearly 20 years.
In 1969, 8-year-old Susan Nason is murdered. The case goes unsolved for nearly 20 years until Nason's friend, Eileen Franklin, suddenly remembers she had witnessed the crime and that the murderer was her own father.
George Franklin becomes the first person to be charged with murder based on a repressed memory. His accuser: his own daughter. His defense team attacks her credibility, and the credibility of recovered memories generally.
Franklin family members testify about the abuse they endured as children. The defense team suggests that Eileen conspired with her sister and mother to convict George as an act of vengeance.
Women across the country begin to recall repressed memories of forgotten trauma. Eileen is convinced her father was involved in other murders. Detectives investigate a new lead while the DA receives a surprising phone call. Series finale.
