Focusing on a group of women working in a munitions plant during World War II, this ensemble drama depicts the dangers and new experiences they face.
It is the Spring of 1943 and the Battle for the Atlantic rages as an Axis victory seems inevitable. The women of Vic Mu – Gladys, Lorna, Kate, Betty and Vera – band together in a tight bond of support and friendship to face the challenges of an escalating war.
When rich girl Gladys Witham takes an office job at Victory Munitions, she discovers a new world — a fascinating sisterhood and a cause that she hopes may change her life.
The women at Victory Munitions must band together when the blame for an accidental explosion is laid at their feet.
A surprise inspection puts VicMu employees under the gun giving Lorna an opportunity to finally rid the factory of Marco, and Gladys must defend herself against a thief to prove Kate’s innocence.

With the war intensifying overseas, Gladys is inspired to organize a fundraiser for Canadian POWs, which her parents commandeer for their own means.
A surprise visit from a soldier makes Valentine’s Day special for Gladys. At the same time, Marco and Bob exchange words over Lorna, while Kate relies on her gift of gab when dealing with her dad.
Gladys travels with Marco and his mother to an internment camp in hopes of aiding Marco's detained father, while Lorna focuses her energy on impressing the girls at the factory. Elsewhere, Betty and Kate attend services at Leon's church; and Vera discovers the perks of being helpful to soldiers.
Lorna plans a dinner to celebrate Eugene's success. Vera and Carol move towards a tenuous friendship despite their differences. Kate decides to move on with her life
When a group of Maritimers arrive at the plant, one of the girls, Reggie, immediately draws Betty's suspicions and ire. Meanwhile, Lorna's hot-blooded son Gene convinces Gladys to join him on an adventure that leads where neither expected.
Rising tension between Lorna and Gladys is amplified by Gene's volatile behaviour. VicMu hosts a cavalcade to raise money for war bonds.
A worried Lorna worries for the safety of her sons during a difficult time. Meanwhile, Gladys isolates herself to fight her own private battles, and Betty has an unexpected reunion with a soldier.

Gladys is torn between her duty and her friendships. Lorna wrestles with her family's changing dynamics and Marco realizes that people are working against him.
