Unsolved murders, missing people, cold cases. How do you cope with not knowing what happened? Detective James Cormack (Travis Fimmel) is focused on solving cold-case mysteries. At the same time, he’s haunted by his personal quest to find his younger brother, who vanished when they were children.
In 1994, the murder of 17-year-old Isabel Baker shocked her Australian South Sea Islander community. The case was never solved but 25 years later the opening of a time capsule unearths a secret that puts Detective James Cormack on the trail.
When a time capsule is opened and a secret is unearthed, Detective James Cormack is put on the trail of a murderer from a 1994 case that was never solved.
After the discovery of Isabel's hair, those involved with the time capsule project in 1994 are at the forefront of Cormack's investigation.
Rumours spread around Ashford, and suspicion lands on Joe, Isabel's father; as Cormack interviews the time capsule kids, more secrets emerge.
Cormack investigates the link between Ezekiel's missing cousins "the lost boys," and Isabel's murder as a new person comes forward with evidence.
Turner concludes that Billy's death was an accident, but Cormack suspects foul play and believes it's linked to the missing workers and Isabel's murder.
Cormack tries to track Anton down to question him, but he's disappeared, and when Cormack and Hazel discover that Kalana is also missing, they fear the worst.
In season 2, cold case Detective Cormack tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs, who hasn't been seen since her own 21st birthday party in 2003. And the other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.
In 2003 Zoe Jacobs disappeared during her 21st birthday party. Many believe that Zoe ran away but others suspect she was murdered. When police officer Sam Kahlil discovers Zoe’s blue backpack, Detective James Cormack is called in to investigate.
New evidence gives Nadja and Sam hope that Zoe is still alive. But as Cormack puts together a timeline of Zoe’s disappearance, the old theory that Zoe drove to Brisbane doesn’t add up.
Cormack invites Sam to examine the contents of Zoe’s backpack and probe her memory for clues. Re-examining CCTV footage from the night she disappeared, Cormack discovers Zoe actually drove to Xanadu, the rural property where Joseph was living.
The discovery of Zoe's remains sends shockwaves through the community, particularly for those clinging to hope that Zoe was still alive.
The field of suspects narrows. Sean's computer reveals a history of despicable behaviour towards women, including the photos taken of Zoe without her consent.
Cormack and Sam uncover what happened the night Zoe went missing. Cormack returns to Brisbane to throw himself into the search for Ritchie.
