After being betrayed by the Hero’s party, Red hopes to start anew by opening an apothecary in a small town. He wants to keep his past life secret, but it won’t be easy...especially when a beautiful adventurer from his past asks to move in.
Far away from the reaches of demons and war, near the borderland of Zoltan, D-Rank adventurer Red lives a normal existence. Through perseverance and hard work, his dream of starting his own apothecary and peaceful life in the countryside finally came true. Abruptly, Red gets a live-in partner and assistant named Rit—the princess of Duchy Loggervia and an adventurer herself—who gives everything up to join him. Although honest, kind, and loved by all, Red has a secret shared only with Rit: his real name is Gideon, brother of Ruti Ragnason, the "Hero" and a former member of her party. Ares Drowa, the "Sage," kicked Red out of their party after their war against the Demon Lord after deciding he was weak and insignificant. Now, even though Red has left the Hero's party behind by assuming a new life together with Rit, his past has yet to let go of him.
Red enjoys the slow life, gathering medicinal herbs and saving to open a shop. His life wasn't always so simple, but he's keeping that to himself. When a local boy falls ill, Red springs into action. Rit is intrigued when she hears of this, but why?
Red hoped for the slow life but not slow business. Rit offers to help, but is it more than he wants? Red reflects on their history together and how Rit has changed. The Hero's party welcomes a new member and prepares for a new quest.

Al is injured, but where are his parents? Ademi vanishes after accusations arise, and the people rise in protest. Red springs into action when Tanta is hauled in for questioning. The Hero's party's quest for the previous Demon Lord's weapon ends.
The double bed finally arrives. Rit tries to thwart a plot. Bighawk unveils his plan. When one of his own is in danger, Red comes to the rescue. Albert's quest for glory takes a dark turn. Al defuses an angry mob and heads off on his first adventure.
Ruti and Tisse go on a quest for a certain medicine, but can they avoid attracting attention? Red and Rit try to drum up business. Red and Tisse unwittingly cross paths. Rit and Red aid a sick fay. Ruti finds what she's looking for and then some.
Ruti reunites with Gideon and tries to get him to rejoin her party. But seeing how happy he is, she has to make a tough choice. Tisse and Ruti have a communication breakdown. Bui hunts for something he needs. Ruti opens up about her emotions.
Tisse gets Red up to speed about Ruti's situation. Red and Danan catch up. Ares encounters Danan, too, but something doesn't add up. Red and company head for an ancient ruins to find Ruti, but a fateful showdown awaits when former comrades cross paths.
Red and company seek Ares in the ancient elven ruins. Ares tries to make Ruti return to her role as the Hero. Danan confronts and exposes Bui and Theodora makes a shocking move. Friendships are tested and comrades betrayed in a climactic battle.
Ruti learns what it means to be the Hero, and Theodora has a change of heart. Ruti enjoys the slow life. Red and company attend Ares' funeral and ponder the mystery of the holy swords. Red and Rit grow even closer, but is a complication on the horizon?

Cardinal Ljubo takes an interest in Zoltan's airship. Meanwhile, Zoltan is celebrating the Solstice Festival and it is bustling with activity. Red and his friends are enjoying the festival, but they come across a fight between some young people.
It's morning as usual. Ruti reconsiders her ordinary daily life that she had abandoned as a hero. That morning, Tisse seemed to be acting strangely. Ruti tries to ask her about the previous night, but...
Danan, who's been undergoing medical treatment, is on the mend. Before leaving town, Danan asks to arrange a deal with Red. Red readily accepts and a special training camp with the former hero party commences.
Van and the others are headed to Zoltan. If Ruti's existence should come to light, there could be trouble, so Red and Rit decide they should take Ruti on a trip.
While Red and his companions are vacationing in St. Durant, they receive word of an ogre king that attacked the village. When Red and his friends go looking, the situation turns out to be more serious than expected.
Tisse, who accompanied Van on his quest to defeat the hill giant, is shocked by Van's twisted sense of justice. His justice is directed at the Zoltan people who welcome the hero, and a large-scale commotion develops.
In order to drive Van away from Zoltan, Red and his friends aim to appease Ljubo and Lavender. Rit is the one who volunteers to negotiate with Lavender. The method she utilizes is... love stories?!
Van and the others rush into Red's shop, accusing Esta of betrayal. Red, who encountered Van's values during their discussion, makes a bold move to make contact with him in an attempt to overturn his rigid thinking.
At Tisse's request, Albert heads off to search for a girl who has disappeared in the forest. Although she is found to be safe, Van, who has also come to rescue her, takes issue with the creature that led her astray which culminates in a skirmish.
Red, who dominates with his skill, and Van, who attacks with his tenacity, engage in a back-and-forth battle. Meanwhile, Lavender is furious at Van's predicament. A huge shadow flows from her body attacking Rit and the others.
