Alex Wilson thinks she is an average suburban girl living in Melbourne, until her 16th birthday when exotic visitor, Kuru, shows up in her backyard with a magical elephant, Anala. He informs her she is the heir to the throne of the magical kingdom of Manjipoor. With his help, the reluctant princess will master her magic powers and defend her royal inheritance against her devious cousin, Vashan, whilst balancing the pull of both worlds to find her true destiny.
At Alex's birthday party an exotic boy, Kuru, and elephant, Anala, appear in her backyard.
When Kuru explains Alex has been adopted, Alex is shocked to find it is true. Scared and upset she accidentally erases her family from existence with her magic. To bring them back, Alex has to decide what is really important to her.
At band auditions, Amanda and J.B. discover Anala – Alex's elephant. Alex tells them she is a magical Princess, but they don't believe her. To maintain their friendship she is forced to prove it and attempts a simple magic trick – which goes awry.
Kuru enrolls at Alex's school and is a social disaster! To protect him from certain humiliation by Trent and the school fencing team Alex resorts to magic to make him popular. It gets out of control, and Alex has to bring him back to earth.
When Kuru returns to Manjipoor and is trapped by Vashan, Kuru finds he needs to use a magic gift from Alex. It has unusual consequences for Alex however, when Marcus stays for lunch.
Infected by Vashan's magic, Alex accidentally creates a new girlfriend for J.B. when she practices her destroy spell. On the surface Asuza is a sweet teenager, but in truth she's the total opposite - so Alex must fix things before J.B.
Alex agrees to visit Manjipoor to meet Omar, but when Alex realizes it means being a Princess, she backs out. As a result, Kuru is fired. Alex has to make amends by going to Manjipoor and requesting Kuru be reinstated.
Amanda convinces Alex to make a discreet trip to Manjipoor, and J.B. travels too. They arrive in an enchanted forest and meet a family whose son is a mouse! Alex uses her magic to help them. Vashan senses her presence, and seeks desperately to locate her.
Wanting to know if Marcus is in love with her, Alex does magic and accidentally becomes a frog! To restore her to humanity, Kuru, Amanda and J.B. need to get Alex kissed by her one true love.

Learning Diva is after The Book, Alex takes it and Caleb to the real world for protection. When Caleb kisses Alex, she tries to convince herself it was nothing, but deep down she's falling for him - unaware he's working for the enemy.
When Alex backs away from a relationship with Caleb, he steals The Book from its hiding place and prepares to betray her by taking it to Diva and Zamira. But ultimately, his loyalty lies with Alex, not Diva.

When Veronica inadvertently records footage of Caleb disappearing, she has him at her mercy. But with the help of Alex, Amanda and Taylor, the footage is destroyed and his secret is safe.
Alex and Taylor plan a surprise party for Amanda's birthday. But the party is crashed by Zamira, who believes that Alex's mother killed her and Caleb's mother.
Zamira gets to a block in The Book which only Alex can unlock. After giving Dark Magic to some new West Manjipoor recruits of hers, Diva comes to the real world. But Alex refuses to help Diva and Caleb gets hurt protecting Alex.
When Alex reads the locked section of The Book, she and Zamira learn the truth; that Diva killed Zamira and Caleb's mother. Meanwhile, Caleb uses his powers for good by helping Kuru escape trouble.
Zamira is against Diva, but that doesn't mean she's with Alex. Veronica gathers new evidence against Alex and Caleb about their secrets, but before she can expose them, Alex tells her the whole truth.
After Zamira is threatened, Caleb begins a dangerous journey. Meanwhile, Veronica starts treating Alex like a Princess. Even though Alex is a Princess, the 'nice Veronica' routine is just too much.
When Diva's plans put Amanda and Alex in danger, Taylor saves Amanda and they realise their deeper feelings for each other. But after taking too much Dark Magic, Caleb loses control and cannot help Alex.
Alex invites Caleb to the end of year music night. Caleb can no longer control his Dark Magic. The vault of Dark Magic now controls him and can transport him anywhere against his will.
The vault claims more control over Caleb as he loses the ability to jump and becomes prisoner to Diva. While Alex is desperate to help him there isn't a lot she can do, except wonder why Diva wants Caleb now that he's powerless.
Alex, Diva and Caleb learn that the vault of Dark Magic is the barrier between the two worlds and returning Dark Magic to the vault will destroy it.
Diva's plan to break the barrier is coming together as she prepares to sacrifice Caleb to the vault of Dark Magic. But Alex won't let it happen.
