Jiayue, who recently moved from China to Aotearoa, struggles with the medical degree her father wants her to do. Instead, she tries to pursue her dream of being a professional tattooist under her father's roof.
Follows Jiayue Qiu, a 22-year-old pharmacy student who's secretly apprenticing at her best friend's tattoo parlour in Auckland and struggling to connect with her unhappy father.
After being uprooted from China and rought to Auckland, Jiayue is failing the degree that her father chose for her. Jiayue herself dreams of becoming a professional tattooist.
A shell-shocked Rong finds Jiayue asleep on the floor of his sleepout. During a family photo session, Rong grills Jiayue about her recent breakup and being kicked out of her flat.
