Set deep in the heart of Central Queensland, this new factual series follows the highs and lows of a community of passionate sapphire hunters working in extreme conditions.
A lack of water sends Max and Glenn out into the wilderness to hunt sapphires. Anthony and Jodie have taken a costly wrong turn underground and the Richardsons' big machines bring on big problems.
Todd and Brianna struggle mixing parenthood and sapphire hunting. Old Timers Ray and Paul might be digging in the wrong spot while Max and Glenn bring in the drillers, but will they strike water?
Rowan drills up a lot more than he bargained for. Anthony and Jodie Mifsud desperately try to join tunnels while Old Timers Ray and Paul realise too late, an old mine hides a deadly secret.
The Mifsuds hope their two sons will make the difference, but it might cost them a massive sapphire. Ray and Paul come badly unstuck with a 40 tonne drill. Todd and Brianna drop a $8000 sapphire.
Storms hit the Gemfields and Max fights his way to the lease, but did the floods destroy his dam? Todd and Brianna face destruction at the claim and Rowan Richardson must act fast to save the mine.
With water in the dam, Max and Glenn finally get a break but their machines break down; Todd and Brianna face a phobia and an unsafe situation; the Mifsuds' season might end with a family feud.
Old Timer, Ray, and his best mate Paul set foot together on a new claim for the very first time before the apprentices are instructed to begin connecting two mine shafts via an underground drive.
After a striking run of bad fortune, the Bushies are back digging on Max’s claim. The Richardsons return to a long-forgotten claim and try to decide whether or not it is worth reopening.
After missing the mark in their attempt to connect the underground shafts, the Mifsuds call on their kids for a little help. Ray finally gets decent sapphires out of his new claim.
The annual Gemfields Festival is fast approaching, and Todd and Bri are madly stockpiling gems, preparing the best ones for sale. The Mifsuds undertake yet another massive maintenance job.
