Dad vs. Lad follows the relationship, or lack thereof, of put-upon Step-Dad Herb and his wayward Step-Son Weston, in Seasons 1 and 2. Then in Season 3 and onward follows Herb's struggles with his biological kids.

Weston tries to talk to Herb into trying to convince his mom to let him do a sleep over at his school

Weston tries to hypnotize the family dog (Binky), who is having major poopage issues, while Herb talks to him, and Deana (Weston's little sister) watches from across the room.

Weston catches up to Herb (when he can't avoid him) to ask him about a school progress report that Wes doesn't want his Mom to see.

Weston takes Binky for a walk, and promptly loses him. Herb is not amused.

Herb must enlist Weston's aid in keeping his impending medical procedure a secret from Weston's mom.

Weston hides on the floor of Herb's car because he doesn't want to go to school. Why? He made the mistake of betting against Tim Tebow.

Weston's mom finds out about all the things the duo have been doing behind her back.

Weston wants to go to a dance at his school. Weston doesn't know how to slow dance. Herb does.

With Weston and the girls away, Herb looks forward to a quiet, romantic evening. Then Weston's annoying little cousin, Lomax, shows up.

It's Carrie Ann's bedtime and Herb decides to tell her a story about a wonderful "King" and a rotten "Prince," but Weston overhears and "helps" Herb finish the story.

Weston discusses how he feels about Herb with a rather bizarre, new age, therapist.

Deana tries to conduct a therapy exercise with Herb and Weston, as per Dr. Fayber, to get them to be more positive and sensitive to each other.

Herb talks to a therapist about finally getting fed up with Weston and leaving his Mom and that family, and about the boys from his first marriage (Iggy & Morph) that he hasn't seen in awhile.

Iggy confronts Herb about his failings as a father, while he and Morph confront their new living situation.

Iggy and Morph begin to settle in to life in Herb's smallish digs, but a typical morning becomes anything but routine when Morph takes a spill with bizarre results.

A lazy Saturday finds Iggy and Herb discussing Morph's continuing Spanish speaking, Iggy's school work, and Herb's past use of corporal punishment.

Herb discusses with Speigel Morph's lingering Latino-ness and why he's still paying child support to Magma when he has custody of his sons. The answer involves an incident from years before that Herb would rather keep from the boys.

Herb catches up with Chancie in a park after Chancie drops the bombshell on Iggy and Morph that Herb might be his biological father.

Herb is back in Dr. Speigel's office, with Chancie in tow, as he explains what's happened in the last week since Chancie showed up.

Herb finishes up his session with Chancie at his therapist's office while the duo await word on the DNA test to confirm Chancie's parentage.

Chancie tries to help Herb move from the too small bungalow, but his methods don't make Herb a happy camper.

Herb hears from his lawyer about a possible custody challenge for Chancie. Herb learns an interesting factoid about Chancie, just as the past comes knocking at the door.

Herb gets a new job and moves to Houston, after Chancie opts for living with his uncle following the peanut incident back at the bungalow. Just as Herb is settling in, he learns that Iggy and Morph are trapped in Brownsville at a detention center with Central American refugees.

Iggy decides to "fix" Morph's Spanish speaking once and for all by employing a hypnosis technique he learned on the internet. Herb has flashbacks to Weston, Binky, Deana, and poop in his gym bag.

Herb and Morph have a heart-to-heart talk about Herb and Iggy's constant fighting. Morph feels more stuck in the middle than the U.N., and forces Herb into a reluctant promise, before Morph is set to go away for the weekend.

Herb's bonding weekend with Iggy is cut short when Jac, Herb's young lawyer he's know since she was a girl, pays a visit with Herb's final divorce papers in hand. Herb is overjoyed at the news that he is no longer married to Weston's mom, but there are certain unexpected stipulations.

Following Jac's departure, images flash in Iggy's mind of just how Jac had been relating to Herb during the visit, and he comes to a startling conclusion. A conclusion that Herb is surprised and dismayed by, for reasons that come as a shock to Iggy.

While Morph plucks through Herb's vast ear hair reservoir, he grills Herb as to what he and Iggy talked about during his weekend away. When Herb is more evasive than a politician at a debate, Morph (for once) gets mad at him, just as another big surprise shows up at the door.

Chancie shows up at Herb's doorstep having unceremoniously exited from his Uncle's worm farm, trust fund-less and wondering where to go and what to do next, while Morph is still sleeping off the effects of a hypno-induced "nap."

With Chancie in the other room, waiting, Herb and Iggy have a lively debate as to the merits of him staying and living with them, and Morph morphs AGAIN!

Herb is worried about leaving Iggy and Chancie alone at the apartment. He ought to be. Meanwhile, Morph is still Parisian, and Chancie gives Iggy an ultimatum about picking on him.

Iggy confronts Morph about getting too chummy with Chancie, meanwhile Herb enjoys a casual game of pool with Chancie that turns serious when Chancie asks for something that had never occurred to Herb.

With the boys off on different activities, Herb hopes to spend a peaceful afternoon napping, but when Morph's rather "countryfied" friend Harley shows up, that idea goes out the window.

Chancie's Uncle Marty shows up at the door with a startling proposal for Chancie, meanwhile at work Herb hears from Jac about exactly why Marty is in town, and drops the bomb on Jac about her parentage.

As Chancie packs to return to California with his slick Uncle Marty, Herb arrives to try to stop him by telling him the truth about just why Marty came to Houston to retrieve him.

With Chancie watching on a secret video feed, Herb tries a daring ploy with Marty to get rid of him once and for all, while leaving no doubt in Chancie's mind just where his uncle stands.

As Herb lounges, Iggy prepares for a date, and Chancie pays bills, Morph asks Herb for help with his homework. Herb balks, Morph protests, Chancie gets drafted.

While Chancie and Morph shoot pool in the Rec Room, Herb finds Harley's narcoleptic little brother (Twofer) asleep on his recliner and Iggy and Herb discuss Morph's desire to see Magma (Iggy and Morph's mother) again.

With Herb and Iggy off jogging, and Morph nowhere to be found, Harley tells Chancie about some trouble Morph has gotten into at school. IF Harley ever gets around to actually TELLING him?

Herb begrudgingly welcomes tough gal: Princess (the daughter of his erstwhile step-brother), while trying to get Chancie out of the bathroom and Morph out of the bedroom as school bookie: Griff comes to collect money that Morph owes him.

Herb gets interviewed by someone from the Veritas Society, a MENSA type organization that Chancie is desperate to join, but whose representative isn't exactly making a good impression on Herb.

Chancie has left for his former boarding school in Orange County, while Herb copes with still being stuck with Princess, and now foreign exchange student Gorgo is added to the mix, along with an often visiting Twofer.

Herb and Princess have to figure out what to do with Morph after Herb reveals to him exactly where Magma has been all these months and Morph's reaction forces Herb into desperate action.

Herb feels the pain of Princess' training regimen, as she and Gorgo help a sciatic Herb into the apartment, and Morph has some startling news about Iggy.

Morph works with Gorgo to try to keep him from flunking 7th Grade and giving Herb an excuse to ship him back to Spain, and Herb meets Twofer's, not-so-pleasant, twin brother: Deever.

Herb talks to Gorgo about his continued stay in their cramped apartment on his foreign exchange student program while Twofer watches.

Iggy takes exception to Princess paying him some unwelcome attention, while Herb and Gorgo prepare for a revelation concerning Morph.

In the series finale, Herb and Iggy have a talk about their past relationship, Herb's current status running a kid sanctuary, and Iggy's new plans for his future.
