Follows two families in the countryside of the Netherlands, who become archenemies after a mysterious accident in the past.
Feuding clans the Kesters and the Vonks are heavily invested in breeding a black tulip. When Luuk Vonk believes he's grown one, a spiral of criminal events kicks off.
As everyone's preparing for the local parade, Luuk Vonk, who's obsessed with growing the world’s first black tulip, seems to finally have results. Will he be allowed to enjoy his triumph?
Luuk’s son Joeri returns and makes it his mission to find out what happened to Luuk. Henk’s son Felix and Luuk’s daughter Emma can no longer hide their feelings.
Henk discovers that Luuk managed to breed a black tulip. Emma and Ben can't agree whether they should sell Luuk’s big discovery to the competition.
An even larger void is created by the revelation about Lynn and Martijn's paternity. Martijn tries to get closer to Henk, while struggling with his guilt. Lynn wants to get to know the Vonks better.

While Joeri's with Lynn in Amsterdam, his suspicions are confirmed and he prepares for a confrontation. Felix is trying to drive Vonk Ltd out of business.
Inspector Zoey starts to ask questions about Martijn. Henk gets suspicions of his own. Zoey also visits Joeri. Emma is still hustling to keep Vonk Ltd afloat.

Kat fears for Ben's life after he's targeted in prison and comes to a far-reaching decision. Lynn becomes more depressed after an attempt to communicate with her brother through Jisanne backfires.
When Samuel mysteriously returns home after a decade, Emma is shaken, and there's a revelation about the identity of Jisanne's father. Kat and Ben’s baby is born.
Jisanne gets to know Samuel better and discovers that he understands about her nightmares. Emma still has feelings for Samuel. Joeri stops taking his pills. Ben's determined to keep Kat out of jail.

When Emma goes to Bangkok for a company deal, Ben takes charge of the family business and concocts a plan to save Kat. Henk discovers that Lilian and Robert are going against the will.
