A deadly virus hits a small community living on an island in the North Sea.
The islanders of Sloborn, incuding newly pregnant 15-year-old Evelin, remain unaware of the deadly virus sweeping their island as they go about their busy lives.
As Evelin struggles with her pregnancy, more and more people are succumbing to the sickness, the origin of which policeman Mikkel begins to question.
As outsiders and insiders begin to gather on the island, and personal lives grow increasingly complex, the first casualties of the virus appear.
As a state ordered pandemic commissioner takes charge of the island, cracks in the islanders' relationships begin to show.
Herm and Evelin scheme against and betray their parents in the name of love, but this leads to further disaster as the virus claims another victim.
