Unearthly beings deliver bloody condemnations, sending individuals to hell and giving rise to a religious group founded on the idea of divine justice. ~~ Adapted from the webcomic "Hellbound" (지옥) written by Yeon Sang Ho (연상호) and illustrated by Choi Kyu Seok (최규석).
Hellbound takes place in 2022–27 in South Korea. An otherworldly face called an angel suddenly starts to materialize to deliver prophecies called decrees that condemn certain individuals to Hell at a specific future time, either seconds or years away. Three monstrous supernatural beings called demons appear at almost the exact time to maul and incinerate the person's body in a spectacular show of force called a demonstration. Two organizations in cahoots, the cult-like New Truth Society and the gang-like Arrowhead group, gain power by playing on people's fears.
Horrified bystanders watch as otherworldly beasts chase down and kill a man in broad daylight. Jung Jinsu declares that only sinners are sent to hell.
The New Truth offers a sizable payment to Park Jungja, a condemned woman, in exchange for the right to live-broadcast the moment her fate is decided.
Addressing a stunned world, Jinsu preaches righteousness. Detective Jin Kyunghun searches for his missing daughter. The Arrowhead targets Min Hyejin.
Bae Youngjae follows his co-worker to a fishing dock, where he witnesses a terrifying sight. The Prophet Angel appears in an unthinkable place.
A despairing Youngjae tracks down a man who he thinks might have answers. The New Truth catches wind of a mysterious organization with its own agenda.
With detrimental information hanging over its head, The New Truth scrambles to protect its power by preventing the public from learning the truth.
In a chaotic world exacerbated by the continuous hellbound decrees, lawyer Min Hye Jin of Sodo, The New Truth Society, and the Arrowheads get entangled anew amidst the sudden resurrections of the formerly condemned; The New Truth’s Chairman Jung Jin Su, and Park Jung Ja.
After a series of visions, Jinsu finds himself mysteriously resurrected. Realizing he's losing power, Kim Jeongchil agrees to work with the government.
While in hiding, Kyunghun and his daughter suddenly come under attack. Meanwhile, the New Truth accelerates their announcement plan.
Jeongchil manipulates Jungja to carry out the New Will. As Jinsu learns more about Cheon Sehyeong, he begins to form his escape plan.
Jinsu puts forward his plot to come face to face with Jungja. However, Hyejin decides to carry out her own rescue plan to retrieve Jungja for Sodo.
As Hyejin, Jinsu and Jeongchil all try to grab ahold of Jungja, Senior Secretary Lee plays her own game on the sidelines — but chaos arises everywhere.
Jinsu confronts Jungja, desperately searching for answers. But as disorder unfolds, will Hyejin be able to get Jungja to safety before it's too late?
