Creatures known as Shokujinki have been secretly living alongside humans for hundreds of years. Though they may look like humans, Shokujinki are able to transform into uncontrollable beasts with gigantic claws and consume humans to survive. The equally secretive Kifuuken dojo specializes in killing Shokujinki by cutting off their arms, and is the only force preventing unchecked Shokujinki domination. Toshihiko Momota, the son of the leader of the Kifuuken, is instantly charmed by a mysterious woman named Yuka Kamitsuki. Their relationship is complicated, however, because unbeknownst to them both, Yuka is a Shokujinki and Toshihiko is sworn to kill her. Meanwhile, the Kifuuken is having a crisis of confidence as Toshihiko's brother Kazuma pushes against tradition and tries to modernize the Kifuuken. As emotions are strained and the secrets of both the past and present are revealed, who will live, and who will be eaten?
Toshihiko dedicated his life to only one purpose, to hunt down and destroy the Shokujinki, until the day he met Yuka.
Toshihiko's life changed drastically when his father dies, and Yuka's true nature is revealed to him.
Toshihiko escaped with Yuka and they hide themselves in a far away mansion.
The story of Toshiko's father is finally revealed, as how he became the leader of the Kifūken and his relationship with Yuka's mother.
Kyūtarō exposes his plan to reformulate the Kifūken's organization with the help of Kazuma. Trouble arises when another member of the school gets himself involved with a Shokujinki.
Yuka celebrates her birthday with Toshihiko, but when she tried one of his secret immobilization techniques on him, he ends up paralyzed, just when their gigantic pursuer finds them.
Rie discovers Toshihiko's hideout and goes all out trying to bring him back home. Meanwhile, Yuka has a surprising revelation.
Toshihiko is captured and tortured by a group of Shokujinki commanded by Yuka's former lover. But soon the Kifūken discovers their location and storm the place.
Once again on the run, Toshihiko and Yuka take a hike with a kind old couple. While traveling with them, they try to sort out their feelings for each other.
As Kyūtarō Ōba put his master plan in motion, he finally reveals his true colors.
Ōba transforms Rie in a Shokujinki and put her into a fight against Yuka. Meanwhile, Kazuma discovers the truth about his origin.
While Toshihiko tries to convince Rie's father to join his battle against Ōba, Kazuma rushes to fight him by himself.
Toshihiko and his allies struggle to stop Ōba's ambitions.
