In 19th-century London, class lines are sharply drawn, and the social standing to which people are born dictates the path their lives will follow. William's father forces him to attend a ball, where he is reintroduced to Eleanor, who happens to be making her debut into society, but Emma is still in on his mind...
William's friend, Prince Hakim, arrives for a visit and takes William on an impromptu elephant ride that leaves the Londoner motion sick. Luckily, Kelly Stowner's residence is near by, so he can recover, but will he find himself with an unexpected rival for Emma's attention?

William, still recovering from the loss of Emma, receives an invitation from Eleanor to visit the crystal palace. Will he be able to escape the memories that haunt him there?

William’s decision is made: he’s going to call off the engagement. But such harsh actions will have harsh consequences, especially where Viscount Campbell is involved.
Distraught at what’s happened to the Jones family and blaming herself for it all, Emma runs away. But Hans follows after her, determined to bring her home.
