In the fall of his first year of middle school, Arata Kouda meets Kujima, a strange, talkative creature that’s neither bird nor human. Kouda Arata meets Kujima, a bird-like creature from Russia. Kujima starts living with the Koudas.

Kujima is introduced to Makoto, Arata's friend. Later, Kujima takes photos with the Koudas for the first time.
